Jarel Paguio, a San Diego native, works as piano technician in San Diego County, and is a member of the San Diego Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild, holding the office of Treasurer. He has had instruction from several mentors, including Ralph Miyashiro RPT (SDSU), Brian Janey RPT (Allegro Piano Service), and Mihee Lee RPT (Convoy Piano), and has attended various workshops and clinics on piano technology, including the Renner Academy under the instruction of recognized authorities in the industry–Rick Baldassin, Nick Gravagne, Carl Teel, and Michael Spreeman of Ravenscroft Pianos. In addition to his education, Jarel has successfully passed the aural tuning and technical examinations under the administration of the Piano Technicians Guild and is a Registered Piano Technician with the PTG.

Alongside technician work, Jarel is a solo pianist for weddings, corporate events, and private parties. He has also performed with several musical acts since his teens, including indie-rock outfit The Young Wild, whose music has been featured on television networks such as ESPN and The CW. He has also recorded with producer Matt Wignall, who has worked with acts such as The Fling and Cold War Kids. Jarel especially appreciates the variety found in playing locally, enabling him to exercise his jazz, rock, and classical background. From corporate conventions to intimate gatherings, Jarel’s versatility will put him at home in any performing situation.

In addition to his performance career, Jarel worked as an instructor of 10 years for Recreational Music Center, formerly located in Liberty Station. During his time as a music educator, he found great joy in giving individual attention to students of a variety of ages, ability levels, and style interests. Jarel holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Point Loma Nazarene University.
